Your mac has a great feature called Spotlight, which you can get to by clicking on the magnifying glass in the top right of the screen or by holding down CMD and the Space Bar on your keyboard.
Spotlight will search through your emails and contacts, find you dictionary definitions, do currency conversions and quick calculations. It is a very useful tool and much underused, so give it a try!
