QC35 Review.
I have been a fan of the Bose QuietComfort series since I purchased the QC25s a couple of years ago. They have never let me down in my two years of owning them, so I had no reason to even think about upgrading them as they seemed to cover all bases. That was until, on June of this year, Bose released the QC35s. The main difference between the QC25s and the new QC35s is that the QC35 are wireless!
This is the first time Bose has put its world renowned acoustic noise cancelling technology into a wireless pair of headphones.
I was sceptical at first and I wondered if it was really worth the upgrade. However, after trying them on I realised that none of the sound quality or the noise cancelling was sacrificed in making them wireless. One of the other factors that helped me decide was something that impacts me on a day to day basis. I do a lot of travelling on public transport, which is one of the reasons I went for the headphones in the first place. With the QC 25s I would always catch the cable on either a hand rail or an armrest. This is obviously not a problem with the newer model when used wirelessly.
I have been using the QC35s for a few months now and I have to say they have been nothing short of fantastic. The noise cancelling has been a big help in saving my ears from a crying baby on a recent flight to Rome, and from the cheering football fans on the train! I found another handy use for them recently – I was FaceTiming a friend and making some food, and because they were wireless I could still talk and cook simultaneously.
Unlike the QC25s, these headphones do not require the AAA batteries, they instead use a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The battery life is claimed to be 20 hours of wireless use which is a very long time for wireless headphones let alone noise cancelling headphones. In my time using them I have found this to be fairly accurate, with mine lasting just over a week with almost daily use!
In summary I would say that, if you’re looking for your first pair of Noise-Cancelling headphones, that the older QC25s are still worth a look but if, like me, you would benefit from the lack of wires then the QC35s come with no real drawbacks! Highly recommended!
